We love getting our teens & kids moving! We teach them how to move properly and make sure that during the time they're with us they're getting a good sweat on! Our teens & kids programs have been running since April 2016, and our membership numbers keep going up! We have fun, play games, and learn the proper mechanics of movement.
At CrossFit Outland, we work hard to get our youth loving fitness, and we keep them moving! We involve jumping, pushing, pulling, swinging, and squatting. We get kids developing skill and strength in gymnastics, weightlifting, and cardiovascular endurance. Every foundational movement that we teach, we teach to everyone. Everyone squats, presses overhead, deadlifts, does gymnastics, runs, jumps, rows, etc. How we teach it, and the kinds of weights we allow/encourage, varies depending on age and ability.
Outland Kids: Grades 1-8
The focus is developing a love for fitness and moving. We warm up, work on a skill, do a mini-workout of the day (WOD), and play a fun & active game.
Classes are 45 minutes.
Bootcamp is a functional movement based program that gets you working hard and sweating without the aspect of barbells and heavy lifting. Modifications are given so everyone can participate.
ALL LEVELS OF FITNESS WELCOME!
Bootcamp movements focus on
cardio, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy.
CrossFit Outland is proud to offer Altona’s only Gymnastics program. With the program running from September until the end of April, kids ages 5 and older get to learn foundational gymnastics movements in a fun, safe, supportive atmosphere. During the program, gymnasts learn various movements on the floor, beam, bars, and the vault. Gymnasts have the opportunity to learn different routines based on their ability and each station provides coaches to spot and help.
CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.
